Dr. Andrea LaFountain

Meet Dr. Andrea LaFountain, PhD, C.Psychol. MSc, BSc, M.Theo

Dr. Andrea LaFountain is passionate about leveraging cognitive neuroscience for the betterment of humanity. Entrenched in the science of healthcare decision making and operational models, Dr. LaFountain applies her expertise as a PhD neuroscientist to developing mathematical predictive models of health outcomes and tailored operational plans to maximize efficiency, ROI and outcomes.

Using radical innovation, Dr. LaFountain has made some breathtaking discoveries. For example, one of her groundbreaking inventions is a neuroscience predictive model of outcomes in diabetes care. The model evidences that patient cognition is a stronger predictor of HbA1c than whether or not the patient is taking insulin!

Being a persistent problem-solver, Dr. LaFountain lives outside the box and brings innovation and invention to every situation. Another breathtaking discovery is her patented algorithm for staging breast cancer in large health databases, an invention that fills the gap where ICD diagnostic codes fall short. This important invention opens up vast applications from the data such as providing the right type of support, to the right patient, at the right time.

From research collaborations with Harvard and The Cleveland Clinic, to teaching strategy on Wharton’s Healthcare program, Dr. LaFountain is at the cutting edge of driving transformative models of healthcare delivery. Being at the forefront of healthcare transformation, Dr. LaFountain provides CME to the world’s leading healthcare institutions.

Dr. LaFountain also serves in an important humanitarian capacity through her role as President of Truth First, an organization that is dedicated to prospering human flourishing through psychometrics and applied cognitive-behavioral models in non-health facets of human flourishing.

Purpose & Mission

MindField Solutions Corp. exists to develop science-based programmatic and strategic support for healthcare stakeholders (hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, payors, patients and caregivers). Various evidence-based approaches are used such as applied cognitive neuroscience, advanced analytics, predictive modelling, to develop reliable and valid solutions to improve health outcomes, evidence-based operational strategies, and a-priori ROI. We impact the healthcare system through invention, strategy, optimization, operational excellence, fiscal responsibility and accountability for outcomes.

Aspiration

More efficient and impactful delivery of healthcare is a pressing need in the United States. By world comparison, the USA’s expenditure on healthcare does not return equitable impact on health. For example, across 12 countries in the developed world, in 2022 the USA spent more than double the average per capita cost and achieved the shortest longevity. Its $12,660 per capita spend delivered a life expectancy of 77.5 years, compared to the UK which achieved a 81-years life expectancy for $8,000 per capita and Japan which garnered 84 years for $5,300 spend.1 Many reasons exist for this poor ROI, for example, inaccurate assumptions about what is driving health outcomes, outdated delivery models, inefficient operations, poor communication, disengaged patients, lack of accountability and excessive waste.

MindField aspires to transform healthcare by providing evidence-based solutions coupled with strategic and analytic support for optimization of efficiencies, engagement, outcomes and ROI. We aspire to see a flourishing population achieved through healthcare models that are evidence-based and maximally efficient from initial diagnosis and treatment to patient engagement and outcomes.
